Coufet (click for map) is located in the village of Roumengoux, close to Mirepoix (click for map). Directions from Carcassonne Airport: As you exit the airport from the rental car area, follow exit signs which take you to the main road (D119) at a roundabout. At the roundabout, turn right following the sign for Mirepoix. Follow straight along this road for around 10kms and you will come to a small town called Montreal. Continue straight through Montreal for another 7–8 kms (through a little village La Force) until you reach a junction where the main road joins from the left. Go straight on and after 1km you will reach a roundabout. At the roundabout, turn left taking the last exit signposted Mirepoix. Follow the road through Fanjeux. As you come out of Fanjeux you will follow straight roads all the way to Mirepoix. Watch your speed – the limit is 90kph – and fines are commonplace. Follow this road for 15-20 kms to Mirepoix. As you come into Mirepoix, the road bends to the left over a bridge. After the bridge, turn left and follow the “Toutes Directions” sign. Go straight on at the lights (Café Roumat will be on your right). At the next lights, turn left. There is an Esso garage on the left. You will immediately come to a roundabout; go straight over. Super U will be on your left. This is the main local super market. Follow the road for 3kms until you reach Bastide-de-Boussignac. As you come into this town you will see a row of lime trees. After the trees turn left towards Chalabre. Follow the road for 3-4kms until you reach a sharp right turn. The main road goes right, but you need to turn left – it’s a bit of a blind turn so take care (the left turn is signposted Moulin Neuf). Go down the hill, through a couple of bends and take the first turn to the left signposted Coufet (look out for beige bins). Up the hill and it’s the only house. The journey should take around 30-45 minutes. |
